In the proposals originally made for

the revision of salaries in Hong Kong it was

proposed that the super-scale posts should

carry the privilege of free quarters, and tnat

a different residence snoulu be allotted to

each. Difficulty has already been found in

allocating separate quarters to individual

officers, and the Governor now states that

existing Government quarters are not sufficient

or of the right type to permit of satisfactory

allocation to particular posts. He therefore
